Arctic research has increasingly embraced co-creative and collaborative approaches while recognizing the need to decolonize research methods and institutions and incorporate Indigenous perspectives. However, challenges persist, with Indigenous-led and co-creative research facing institutional barriers and misconceptions about Indigenous Knowledge being labelled as non-scientific. To address these issues and improve research relationships, this virtual workshop was a space to discuss the ‘how to’ of co-creative research, including:

  1. How can meaningful and trustful collaboration be achieved across academic disciplines?
  2. How can we address data sovereignty?
  3. How can research relationships be maintained during times without funding?
  4. How do funding schemes need to change to enable co-creation?
  5. What does co-creation mean from Indigenous perspectives?

Sessions included discussions on Indigenous perspectives of co-creation, funding co-creative research, natural sciences and collaborative youth research, storytelling and the art of listening, publishing co-creative research, and a coaching session for planned projects.
