The Ethics and Methods in Arctic Transformative Research Workshop Series brings together researchers, Indigenous rightsholders, policymakers, activists, and others to discuss co-creative and collaborative approaches in Arctic research. The workshops aim to reflect on current debate and practice, share experiences, identify issues, and establish connections for future collaboration. The sessions are based on needs identified in previous workshops and input from advisory board members and other colleagues.

The first virtual, two-day workshop in September 2020 focused on moving away from exploitative practices, putting knowledge co-production and participatory research into practice, learning from local perspectives, and improving communication among diverse partners. The next virtual workshop in November 2021 discussed improving research relationships, experiences with co-creative research, and topics such as publishing co-creative research, storytelling, the art of listening, and co-creation in the natural sciences. The third in-person workshop in October 2023 tackled fundamental questions to prevent the co-creation and co-production of knowledge from becoming hollow concepts.
