The Arctic Dialogue is an information exchange forum initiated by the Alfred Wegener Institute in 2013. The forum offers the opportunity to strengthen and foster an open dialogue between those invested in Arctic research and politics and provide the German Federal Ministries and Agencies access to relevant findings, field experiences and international contacts. Representatives of relevant German Federal Ministries, research institutes, and NGOs attend the meetings.

The 21st Arctic Dialogue meeting was jointly organized by the Arctic Office of AWI and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The central focus of the presentations and discussions was international cooperation in Arctic research. Nina Döring and Aslak Holmberg (via video message) provided insights into cooperation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners. Afterwards, representatives of the embassies of Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the USA briefly introduced the current and future research priorities of the Arctic States and indicated possible connecting points.
